Our Campaign is getting attention!

As part of an investigation of DC Public Schools, The Washington Post recently reported,

“For decades, the District’s public schools have resisted scores of reform plans and multiple changes in leadership to remain among the most troubled in the nation… [the institution] is close to the highest-spending and worst-performing in the nation.” - The Washington Post

For too long the DC school system has fallen short in its educational offerings. Even with a budget trumping the systems of many similar cities, DC schools pale by comparison across several areas. The DC Board of Education is the arm of the government that crafts the vision and implements DCPS policies.

The Board is in desperate need of fresh ideas backed by demonstrated achievement.

With a commitment to DC education, and an impressive history as a student himself, Jason Crawford is the write-in candidate for the Board of Education who brings informed ideas and extensive hands-on experience. His familiarity with the classroom as a public school teacher will serve him well as he fights to protect the programs that matter, while pushing for the changes DC public schools require.

Jason Crawford is committed to finding ways to attract talented and passionate individuals into the DC school system. His first priority is securing the right people, for the right positions based on ability to effect positive change.

Crawford has become familiar with the D.C. standards through his experience designing curriculum for his own students. While recognizing the importance of standardized testing, Jason believes that such testing must be balanced with a focus on educating the whole individual.

As a coach, Crawford understands the importance of providing students with electives and valuable after-school opportunities. He will fight to ensure that music, arts and sports remain a cornerstone of public school curriculum.

Education is the civil rights issue of our time. Jason wants the District to continue bringing talented teachers into our school system while making sure they are ready and able to give the District’s children the education they need and deserve.
